Rivi Bikinis for Petite Figures

Rivi Bikinis for Petite Figures

Let’s talk about the craziness of sizing standardization. We will start with the history and then narrow down to Rivi Bikinis sizing.

Rivi Bikini Size Guide

The History of Sizing

Here are some numbers that illustrate the insanity of women's clothing sizes: A size 8 dress today is nearly the equivalent of a size 16 dress in 1958. And a size 8 dress of 1958 doesn't even have a modern-day equivalent — the waist and bust measurements of a size 8 back then come in smaller than today's size 00...  To be more specific: a bust of 31 inches, a 23.5-inch waist, and a weight of 98 pounds.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data show that the average American woman today weighs about as much as the average 1960s man. Americans got heavier (and taller) and standardized sizing got complicated, as any woman who's ever shopped for clothes could probably tell you.

By 1983, the government ditched the standard completely. Manufacturers were left to define sizes as they saw fit. Enter the era of vanity sizing. If you haven’t noticed, a size 8 waist measurement could differ by as much as five inches of cloth between different designers.

Long story short, standardized sizing isn’t so standard.

Rivi Bikinis Sizing

Rivi Bikinis is made for shorter women with petite sizing. We specialize in minimal coverage bikinis for smaller figures. In the swimwear world, bikinis have been made to fit the average figure and there have been swimsuits made to fit plus sizes, but what about the smaller & shorter girls? Enter Rivi Bikinis.

Rivi Bikinis were not designed to flatter all figures, unfortunately. Our bikinis tend to fit the diminutive gals out there that prefer smaller cuts. Our XS was designed after the following measurements: a bust of 32 inches, a 24-inch waist, a weight of 105 pounds, and a height of 5’3”. And our sizing grades up by 1”. Long story short, our niche is in swimwear for petite figures.

If you are having questions on sizing, see our size charts below.
